COPD Clinical Trials
Learn About Joining COPD Research
What Is COPD?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a long-term lung condition that blocks airflow and makes it harder to breathe over time. It includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, and it can cause shortness of breath, a lingering cough with mucus, wheezing, and chest tightness. According to the CDC, about 4.2% of U.S. adults have been diagnosed with COPD, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
Smoking is the leading cause, though long-term exposure to secondhand smoke, air pollution, or workplace dust and fumes can also contribute. While COPD has no cure, researchers are still working to learn why it worsens faster in some people, what sets off flare-ups, and which approaches might ease breathing problems down the line.
How You Can Help Advance COPD Research
Equity Medical runs COPD clinical trials at select clinical research centers. This research looks at how the disease varies from one person to the next and tests investigational options that may cut down on flare-ups or support easier breathing.
Our board-certified investigators oversee each trial alongside a coordinating team that walks participants through what to expect, makes time for their questions, and checks in throughout the study.

You May Be Eligible If You:
Sharing your details is not the same as enrolling. If a COPD trial that is open now or opening soon looks like a match, someone from Equity Medical will call you to talk it through.
